Eyes on the Future
We are thrilled to share with you that Cause and Effect Foundation will merge with Step by Step Early Intervention Society effective July 31, 2024.
Our two organizations have long held common values, providing excellence in early intervention services for children with special needs and their families. Cause and Effect proudly provided programming for children receiving Program Unit Funding (PUF) and Mild Moderate (MM) funding for 30 years. When leadership determined it best to cease operations and dissolve the foundation, Cause and Effect desired to have the respected team at Step by Step come alongside to steward programs and resources into the future. Step by Step’s commitment to a family-centred approach, program model, and shared passion for serving children was a natural fit. Step by Step is honoured to welcome Cause and Effect’s children, families, staff, and partners into our community, and to continue providing exceptional programs for exceptional children.
Why the merger:
With the future in mind, it was determined we would be best equipped to provide early intervention to a growing population of children requiring specialized services as a single entity. This merger brings all our expertise, resources and passion together under the umbrella of Step by Step and provides greater opportunity for program enhancement and strategic expansion in the coming years.
What this means for our community:
There will be no disruption to programming. Children with MM funding will continue in the Cause and Effect model of engaging in community-based settings with support. Children with PUF support will receive centre-based programming at Step by Step’s bright and welcoming educational centre.
Step by Step is committed to providing a family-centered approach to enhance therapeutic children’s programs. Families joining from Cause and Effect will gain access to a variety of opportunities to connect, learn, and grow alongside others on a similar journey through Step by Step’s Family Programs.
Step by Step will steward all assets, donations and community partnerships going forward under its charitable status; Cause and Effect Foundation will be dissolved.
Moving forward:
As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we are dedicated to a smooth transition for families, partners, and donors that honours the legacy of Cause and Effect Foundation and reflects Step by Step’s steadfast commitment to providing exceptional early childhood education, therapeutic and family supports for developmentally delayed and disabled children and their families.
More information regarding the transition will be shared with those directly affected in the coming months. We ask for your patience as we work through all the necessary pieces in a timely manner.
