    Position Summary

    We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Physiotherapist (PT) to join our team. The successful candidate will support the development of motor skills and physical function in children with disabilities, both in our centre-based toddler and preschool programs and through in-home services. The role offers full-time hours from September to June, and flexible part-time hours during the summer months when our centre-based programs are not in session. This role would begin no later than September 2025.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Implement therapeutic interventions and techniques aimed at improving gross motor skills, mobility, coordination, strength, and physical independence.

    • Collaborate with other members of the team, including teachers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, behaviour strategists, and developmental aides to coordinate care and ensure a multidisciplinary approach.

    • Communicate effectively with team members, families, and caregivers to provide support, guidance, and feedback.

    • Adapt therapy strategies to meet the unique developmental needs of each child and the goals of their families.

    • Facilitate sport and movement groups to build physical literacy skills.

    • Provide education and training to staff, families, and caregivers on physiotherapy activities and strategies to facilitate progress.

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessment results, goals, strategies, progress notes, and year end summaries.

    • Utilize standardized tests, clinical observations, and interviews to conduct screenings.

    • Participate in team meetings, and educational activities to exchange knowledge and enhance the quality of care provided.

    • Ensure hour tracking is current and accurate.

    • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advances in pediatric physiotherapy through continuing education, workshops, and professional conferences.

    • Maintain license and certification requirements, adhering to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

    Qualifications/Required

    • Master's degree in Physiotherapy.

    • Registered member, in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

    • Specialization or experience in pediatric physiotherapy preferred.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.

    • Exceptional organizational skills.

    • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to positively impact the lives of the families we serve.

    • Valid Alberta driver’s license, access to a vehicle during work hours, and willingness to drive to homes throughout Calgary.

    • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.

    We are currently accepting applicants for a developmental aide in our ECS program. Clients span in age from 3-6 years with a range of diagnoses, including but not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and speech/language delays. Services are provided at our Centre located in SE Calgary. Full-time opportunities are available with working hours consisting of 8:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    The developmental aide’s main responsibility is to work with children in our program implementing strategies given by the therapists or behaviour strategists to target a child’s individual goals. The aide works in close collaboration with team members to create a program that encourages each child to develop their full potential.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide a fun, positive environment that encourages connection with a child to facilitate their success.

    • Support the development of communication, play, feeding, toileting, social, fine motor, and gross motor skills in alignment with a child’s Individual Program Plan (IPP). Communication skills may involve the use of visuals or an alternative/augmentative communication device.

    • Implement strategies provided by teachers, therapists, and strategists to build developmental skills.

    • Communicate with teachers, therapists, and strategists regarding a child’s progress and complete specific reporting as required such as data tracking.

    • Stay current with child specific updates from teachers, therapists, and strategists.

    • Assist with cleaning, organization, and material preparation to ensure the space is ready and safe for the next class.

    • Participate in ongoing training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge about child development, disabilities, and therapeutic strategies.

    • Adhere to all of Step by Step’s policies and procedures.

    Qualifications/Required:

    • High school diploma, additional education in related field considered preferred.

    • Able to lift 40lbs, keep up with active work on their feet for the entire shift.

    • Must be able to work at a child’s level - i.e., able to be down on the floor to play.

    • Able to produce a clear criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check after being hired.

    • Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.

    • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal.

    Skills and Attitude:

    • Passionate about working with children with disabilities.

    • Excellent understanding of how to work with children and families effectively and respectfully.

    • Able to collaborate and willing to learn from others.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Position Summary 

    We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and neurodivergent affirming Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The successful candidate will work in-home with clients that are accessing services through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) to promote their communication, speech, language, and social skills. Clients span in age from 2-7 years with a range of diagnoses, including but not limited to, autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy. Services are provided in Calgary, with daytime hours and/or early evening session available dependent on the contract. 

    Responsibilities 

    • Provide evidenced-based in-home intervention and consults with a family-centered care approach  

    • Communicate and collaborate effectively with an inter-disciplinary team   

    • Work within the parameters of FSCD model  

    • Implement therapeutic interventions and techniques aimed at improving speech, language, communication, and social interactions.  

    • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to provide support, guidance, and feedback. 

    • Modify strategies to meet the varied needs of the children, families, and other members of the team. 

    • Provide education and training to families and caregivers on speech and language activities and strategies to facilitate progress. 

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessment results, goals, strategies, progress notes, and year end summaries. 

    • Ensure hour tracking is current and accurate. 

    • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advances in pediatric speech-language pathology through continuing education, workshops, and professional conferences. 

    • Maintain license and certification requirements, adhering to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). 

    Qualifications/Required  

    • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  

    • Registered member, in good standing with the ACSLPA. 

    • Specialization or experience in pediatric speech-language pathology preferred. 

    • Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices preferred.  

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.  

    • Exceptional organizational skills.
