Position Summary
Step by Step is looking to hire a substitute driver for preschool aged children with developmental delays and disabilities. Driving routes are from the school at 6444 12 Street SE, to areas throughout the city of Calgary. Successful candidates will drive a company owned van.
There are three shifts with a minimum of two hour each shift.
7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This is a school schedule so no working on civic, winter, spring or summer school holidays! Have all your weekends and holidays off.
Must have a class 4 drivers license or better or be willing to get the required driving license. Vulnerable sector check and clean driving abstract are required.
Responsibilities:
Safely transport children between home and school.
Drive in a safe manner and follow all the traffic and other laws set out by municipal, provincial and federal authorities.
Use exceptionally good judgement to ensure safety of passengers.
Maintain a clean driver’s abstract. Report any infractions to your manager.
Be punctual and reliable for all scheduled pick up and drop offs.
Communicate via text to parents regarding your expected arrival daily. Texting must occur only when you are parked, prior to leaving current location.
Interact with parents, children and staff in a professional, respectful and kind manner at all times.
Keep track of and submit a kilometer's log that is accurate.
Work on gaining knowledge of the children you transport. Make each child’s experience with school a positive one to encourage them to look forward to the trip to school
Report any incidences to the health and safety committee.
Follow the guidelines of the handbook and health and safety
Communicate information about absences, lates and other information to your supervisor.
Never leave children alone in the car. Parents will bring the child out to you.
Properly install and use car seats. Keep the car seat instruction manual in the car with you.
Keep a properly maintained and clean vehicle, free of any toxic or dangerous items, mechanical difficulties etc.
Ensure maintenance, seasonal change over, and inspections are completed based on organizational timelines and vehicle need.
Keep a roadside safety kit in your vehicle, contact numbers, blankets first aid kit, and a charged cell phone in case of emergencies.

Position Summary
We are currently accepting applicants for a developmental aide in our ECS program. Clients span in age from 3-6 years with a range of diagnoses, including but not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and speech/language delays. Services are provided at our Centre located in SE Calgary. This is a full-time role, with working hours consisting of 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The developmental aide’s main responsibility is to work with children in our program implementing strategies given by the therapists or behaviour consultants to target a child’s individual goals. The aide works in close collaboration with team members to create a program that encourages each child to meet their full potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a fun, positive environment that encourages connection with a child to facilitate their success.
Support the development of communication, play, feeding, toileting, social, fine motor, and gross motor skills in alignment with a child’s Individual Program Plan (IPP). Communication skills may involve the use of visuals or an alternative/augmentative communication device.
Implement strategies provided by teachers, therapists, and strategists to build developmental skills.
Communicate with teachers, therapists, and strategists regarding a child’s progress and complete specific reporting as required such as data tracking.
Stay current with child specific updates from teachers, therapists, and strategists.
Assist with cleaning, organization, and material preparation to ensure the space is ready and safe for the next class.
Participate in ongoing training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge about child development, disabilities, and therapeutic strategies.
Adhere to all of Step by Step’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications/Required:
High school diploma, additional education in related field considered preferred.
Able to lift 40lbs, keep up with active work on their feet for the entire shift.
Must be able to work at a child’s level - i.e., able to be down on the floor to play.
Able to produce a clear criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check after being hired.
Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.
Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal.
Skills and Attitude:
Passionate about working with children with disabilities.
Excellent understanding of how to work with children and families effectively and respectfully.
Able to collaborate and willing to learn from others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will work with children with diverse needs at our centre and in their homes to promote their independence, development, and participation in daily activities. The current opportunity is for a fixed-term, 13-month maternity leave (June 1, 2026 – June 25, 2027), ideally providing some overlap time to permit smooth caseload transfer. An option to extend, or move to a permanent role may exist in the future. The role offers full-time hours from September - June and flexible, part-time hours during the summer months when our centre-based program is not in session.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement therapeutic interventions aimed at improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care abilities, play skills, and social interaction within the therapeutic scope of our organization.
Modify strategies to meet the varied needs of the children, families, and other members of the team.
Use standardized tests, clinical observations, and interviews to gather information about children’s functional abilities and challenges.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessment results, goals, strategies, progress notes, and year end summaries.
Provide education and training to staff, families, and caregivers on therapeutic activities and strategies to facilitate progress.
Collaborate with other members of the team, including teachers, speech-language therapists, physiotherapists, and behaviour strategists, to coordinate care and ensure a multidisciplinary approach.
Communicate effectively with team members, families, and caregivers to provide support, guidance, and feedback.
Participate in team meetings, and educational activities to exchange knowledge and enhance the quality of care provided.
Ensure hour tracking is current and accurate.
Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advances in pediatric occupational therapy through continuing education, workshops, and professional conferences.
Maintain license and certification requirements, adhering to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by professional organizations such as the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Qualifications/Required
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
Registered member, in good standing with the ACOT.
Specialization or experience in pediatric occupational therapy preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to positively impact the lives of the families we serve.
Valid Alberta driver’s license, access to a vehicle during work hours, and willingness to drive to homes throughout Calgary.
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
