    Position Summary 

    We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and neurodivergent affirming Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The successful candidate will work in-home with clients that are accessing services through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) to promote their communication, speech, language, and social skills. Clients span in age from 2-7 years with a range of diagnoses, including but not limited to, autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy. Services are provided in Calgary, with daytime hours and/or early evening session available dependent on the contract. 

    Responsibilities 

    • Provide evidenced-based in-home intervention and consults with a family-centered care approach  

    • Communicate and collaborate effectively with an inter-disciplinary team   

    • Work within the parameters of FSCD model  

    • Implement therapeutic interventions and techniques aimed at improving speech, language, communication, and social interactions.  

    • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to provide support, guidance, and feedback. 

    • Modify strategies to meet the varied needs of the children, families, and other members of the team. 

    • Provide education and training to families and caregivers on speech and language activities and strategies to facilitate progress. 

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessment results, goals, strategies, progress notes, and year end summaries. 

    • Ensure hour tracking is current and accurate. 

    • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advances in pediatric speech-language pathology through continuing education, workshops, and professional conferences. 

    • Maintain license and certification requirements, adhering to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). 

    Qualifications/Required  

    • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  

    • Registered member, in good standing with the ACSLPA. 

    • Specialization or experience in pediatric speech-language pathology preferred. 

    • Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices preferred.  

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.  

    • Exceptional organizational skills.  

    • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to positively impact the lives of the families we serve.  

    • Valid Alberta driver’s license, access to a vehicle during work hours, and willingness to drive to homes throughout Calgary. 

    • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.

    Position Summary

    We are currently accepting applicants for a Teacher to work at our specialized Educational Centre with children who receive funding through Alberta Education for special needs. Children span 3-5 years with a range of diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder and severe speech or communication delay.  The successful candidate will be responsible for these children’s educational program with the support of developmental aides, behaviour strategists and therapists.  

    Responsibilities

    • In collaboration with the classroom lead, oversee, plan, prepare and implement preschool daily lesson plans that align with the Alberta kindergarten curriculum.  

    • Provide feedback on classroom leads lesson plans to ensure that they are differentiated and align with the Alberta kindergarten curriculum. 

    • Lead, plan, prepare and implement Kindergarten daily lesson plans and assessments that align with the Alberta kindergarten curriculum. 

    • Collaborate with Kindergarten teacher to ensure lessons are cohesive within all kindergarten groups.  

    • Facilitate Kindergarten and Grade One transition planning 

    • Comply with Alberta Ed. Audit requirements guided by principal. 

    • Develop and update Individual Program Plans in collaboration with parents and therapists.  

    • Collaborate with therapists to develop and implement therapeutic goals for children in the classroom. 

    • Ensure the classroom team effectively targets and implements IPP goals and ensure that each child receives appropriate-level instructions to meet IPP goals.  

    • Guide and support developmental aides to utilize effective behaviour, learning, and therapeutic strategies based on Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals.  

    • Coordinate and facilitate IPP and Parent Engagement Sessions (include all team members). 

    • Report on children’s progress with educational goals and classroom participation in year-end reports. 

    • Work together with the classroom lead to ensure an effective and consistent use of developed communication protocols.  

    • Share relevant programming updates at morning meetings. 

    • Stay current with child specific updates from therapists, strategists and classroom team. 

    • Collaborating with classroom lead to ensure Lillio updates are completed daily.   

    • Assist with self-help skills when needed including toileting and diapering children.   

    • Encourage parents to participate in family support services at Step by Step and support parents in accepting and receiving a new diagnosis. 

    • Attend monthly check-ins with the principal and other teachers. 

    • Attend family events by request. 

    • Collaborate with the principal about staff performance management 

    • Conduct employee reviews for direct reports. 

    • Be a liaison between therapists and developmental aides.   

    Qualifications/Required 

    • Bachelor's degree in Education 

    • Interim or permit teaching certification with Alberta Teachers’ Association

    • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal 

    • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check
